title : Artificial intelligence : principles and practice Type de document : printed text Auteur : George F Luger, Author Editeur : Cham : Springer Date de publication : C 2024 Nombre de pages : 1 vol. (XVII-638 p.) Ill. : ill., couv. ill. en coul Dimensions : 26 cm ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-3-031-57436-8 Langue : English (eng) Mots clé : Intelligence artificielle Intelligence artificielle Problèmes et exercices Intelligence artificielle Aspect moral Artificial intelligence COMPUTERS / Artificial Intelligence Ethics & moral philosophy Ethik und Moralphilosophie KÉunstliche Intelligenz PHILOSOPHY / Ethics & Moral Philosophy Indexation : 006.3 Intelligence artificielle Résumé : This book provides a complete introduction to Artificial Intelligence, covering foundational computational technologies, mathematical principles, philosophical considerations, and engineering disciplines essential for understanding AI. Artificial Intelligence: Principles and Practice emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of AI, integrating insights from psychology, mathematics, neuroscience, and more. The book addresses limitations, ethical issues, and the future promise of AI, emphasizing the importance of ethical considerations in integrating AI into modern society. With a modular design, it offers flexibility for instructors and students to focus on specific components of AI, while also providing a holistic view of the field. Taking a comprehensive but concise perspective on the major elements of the field; from historical background to design practices, ethical issues and more, Artificial Intelligence: Principles and Practice provides the foundations needed for undergraduate or graduate-level courses. The important design paradigms and approaches to AI are explained in a clear, easy-to-understand manner so that readers will be able to master the algorithms, processes, and methods described. The principal intellectual and ethical foundations for creating artificially intelligent artifacts are presented in Parts I and VIII. Part I offers the philosophical, mathematical, and engineering basis for our current AI practice. Part VIII presents ethical concerns for the development and use of AI. Part VIII also discusses fundamental limiting factors in the development of AI technology as well as hints at AI's promising future. We recommended that PART I be used to introduce the AI discipline and that Part VIII be discussed after the AI practice materials. Parts II through VII present the three main paradigms of current AI practice: the symbol-based, the neural network or connectionist, and the probabilistic. Generous use of examples throughout helps illustrate the concepts, and separate end-of-chapter exercises are included. Teaching resources include a solutions manual for the exercises, PowerPoint presentation, and implementations for the algorithms in the book Artificial intelligence : principles and practice [printed text] / George F Luger, Author . - Cham : Springer, C 2024 . - 1 vol. title : Basic Concepts in Organic Stereochemistry Type de document : printed text Auteur : Sunil Kumar TALAPATRA, Author ; Bani TALAPATRA, Author Editeur : Cham : Springer Date de publication : 2022 ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-3-030-95989-0 Langue : English (eng) Mots clé : structure diagrams Indexation : Résumé : This book discusses essential stereochemical concepts associated with organic molecules (natural or synthetic), as reflected in the course of their many reactions, their mechanisms, their asymmetric synthesis, biosynthesis, and biological activities. This treatise provides useful insights and understanding of the chiral/achiral designations (nomenclatures), the stereochemical features, and related properties of the natural and synthetic products. Without having an adequate knowledge of stereochemical concepts, it will not be possible to understand and appreciate the stereochemistry of natural or synthetic products. Thus, essential static and dynamic aspects of stereochemistry with sufficient illustrative examples along with discussions are presented. The structure of the monograph allows for easy selection of separate topics for reading and teaching. This book will also provide an idea of basic stereochemical concepts, as applied to organic molecules in general as well as to organic ligands in coordination complexes, and will, therefore, be valuable resources to teachers and students of advanced undergraduates and post-graduates, researchers, and professionals. title : Biomass Utilization: Conversion Strategies Type de document : printed text Auteur : Nhuan Phu Nghiem, Author ; Tae Hyun Kim, Author Editeur : Cham : Springer Date de publication : 2022 ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-3-031-05834-9 Langue : English (eng) Mots clé : Fractionation strategies Indexation : Résumé : This book focuses on the technologies developed for the conversion of all three biomass components, i.e. cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin, and their constituents, to fuels and high-value products. Both biochemical and thermochemical approaches are reviewed. Additionally, the developed technologies are described in detail and their potential applications as well as their commercial status are discussed.
The early attempts to produce fuel ethanol from lignocellulosic biomass feedstock focused solely on the biological conversion of cellulose because the only organism that had been used successfully for commercial production of ethanol, i.e. Saccharomyces cerevisiae, could only ferment glucose, which was obtained from the hydrolysis of cellulose. Hemicellulose and lignin were considered as wastes in these processes and were normally removed in pretreatment processes to enhance enzymatic hydrolysis of the remaining cellulose.
However, this approach was not economically feasible and as a result, the biorefinery concept was developed. In a biorefinery, in addition to ethanol, various higher-value products are produced from hemicellulose and lignin, which were previously not considered. Consequently, technologies were developed for the fractionation of biomass and conversion of hemicellulose and lignin to fuels and high-value products to improve the economic feasibility.
Written and edited by a team of investigators with many years of experience in biomass processing research and development, this book is an informative resource for postgraduate students and researchers interested in biorefinery and biofuel technologies both in academia- and commercial laboratories.
